Almost Human may never come back. Sleepy Hollow is on hiatus. Who knows when Book Three of The Legend of Korra will ever come out? So what’s good and NOC-worthy on TV right now? Well The CW is trying out this show called The 100 that resembles a Hunger Games/Lord of the Flies mashup (s/o Shawn Taylor for the references). It’s a hot mess, but I can see how it might catch on.

But if you’re a NOC and need something to watch between the time you put the kids to bed and when you got to put yourself to bed, I suggest you check out a different show on The CW. What am I talking about? It’s simple. Watch Arrow.

Yes, Arrow has been a topic of discussion lately at NOC headquarters.  When we recently had the chance to interview Andy Poon on Hard N.O.C. Life, we dove into the reasons why we are watching.

If you haven’t been watching, or if you just have it running in the background as Jonka does, Arrow is the live action series based on the adventures of DC superhero Green Arrow, aka Oliver Queen. The first season — in all honesty — was tough to get through as they really battled through an identity crisis as to what the show should be. That said, the mystery of what happened on the island — where Ollie had been shipwrecked for five years — and the superb live action fight scenes were really interesting. Also, the Huntress drama and appearances by other DC characters like Deadshot and Sin really kept me engaged enough to get into season 2.

I’m glad I did because this season is where things get really interesting. As said when I was a guest on Hard N.O.C. Life, the show’s writers have embraced that this is a show about a comic book hero. Once you get past Ollie’s rich white kid with a savior complex, it is actually a decent show.

Season 2 has been really strong. They have stepped up their writing, fight scene choreography, cinematography, costume design, and introduced even more DC characters like Black Canary, the Suicide Squad, Deathstroke, Nyssa Al Guhl, and even the young Barry Allen (aka The Flash, who has been a big hit in our household).

In addition, they’ve added more in-depth stories for my favorite characters on the show — Felicity Smoak and John Diggle. By the way, David Ramsey would make a great John Stewart if the Green Lantern film ever gets rebooted. Don’t think so? Check out this awesome photo from The Will Power Fan Page on Facebook:

I hope the writers keep things interesting by dwelling more into the DC Universe that Ollie lives in. I also hope they realize that this show is about a comic book hero. But I guess the only way to find out is to keep watching. I guess you know what I’ll be doing on Wednesday nights.
