Please, Please, Please #BoycottStarWarsVII

All weekend, Disney and Lucasfilm have been prepping audiences around the world for the forthcoming phenomenon that is Star Wars: The Force Awakens. In addition to running a series of trailers for a trailer to premiere during Monday Night Football on ESPN (of all places), but soon, we’ll all be able to reserve our tickets for that midnight showing (or seven-movie marathon) two months in advance. And the entire galaxy rejoices! Well, not everyone. There’s actually a segment of fandom that is boycotting The Force Awakens.

And you know what? If you’re one of those people who aren’t here for Episode VII, all we have to say is…

64945758Basically, there’s been a movement on the internet — because it’s the internet — by an aggrieved group of folks who feel that a Star Wars movie in which the leads are black, Latino, and female (not to mention a spin-off film with even more women and people of color — and Asians, believe it or not!) is just the first step to white genocide. No, seriously.

This is an outgrowth of the #BlackStormtrooper hashtag that sprouted when the first trailer dropped, and John Boyega’s was the first face you saw in a brand new Star Wars trailer.

So here’s the thing. If these folks are that pissed that John Boyega is wielding a lightsaber on the new poster, we say “good riddance,” or better yet, see the Vader image above.

Star Wars Movie Tickets

Besides, the more of you “boycotting” the biggest movie of the year, the easier it will be for the rest of us to get tickets anyway. We’d rather not see these people at the movie theater on December 18.

In fact, your boycott should extend to social media too. So please refrain from tweeting about Star Wars or commenting on any blog posts — including this one — that talk about Star Wars. Otherwise, engaging with the world of Star Wars is only going to encourage the people who are trying to take it away from you.

In fact, I think your boycott should be retroactive since black people were in both the original and prequel trilogies. So, you should probably stop watching those movies as well. Demand George Lucas give you back all of the money you spent buying (and rebuying) every iteration of those films on VHS, DVD, and blu-ray.

Star Wars - Premiere Sweepstakes

Everybody else will be over here with the Rebellion eating popcorn, scooping up action figures, and continuing to plot the destruction of the white race the Galactic Empire.

  1. LOLOLOLOL~! Yes please boycott this movie racist nerds! Free up some seats in the theaters for the rest of us. <3 I can't wait to not see them at the premiere <3 Maybe they should just stay home and watch Ender's Gamer over and over and jerk each other off every time they see a white man succeeding at something.

    1. This is so ridic and yes it all started with the racist remarks about Boyega as a Stormtrooper. Wow. Wish I was in a Galaxy, far, far away….

  2. LOL! I for one am excited to see this 🙂 I’m a trekkie, but when I heard who was starring in this I knew I would be in attendance. That Billy Dee Williams at the end is EVERYTHING 😉

  3. Star Wars has come a long way from Jar Jar Binks. It’s stupefying how that image of one visibly black man on a Star Wars movie poster can cause such a ruckus in 2015. [Let’s not forget the metaphor of DARTH VADER and the James Earl Jones voice over, folks.] There’s a Black man in office as Commander-in-Chief in the USA and George Lucas is married to a Black woman so get over yourselves you racist losers. There’s room enough in the Galaxy for every body: Arabs, Asians, Blacks, Indians, Latinos and Women, not to mention Wookies and Sand Raiders and A.I. galore!

    1. I am boycotting it and I do NOT care who George Lucas is married to if I am ARABIC, ASIAN, LATINO , INDONESIAN, where are those people of color at in the film , or enough on TV, AND MOVIES IN LEADING ROLES WITH BLACKS , THIS IS 2015 & AMERICA AND ( some countries in Europe) IS NOT BLACK OR WHITE ANYMORE , AS A MAN OF COLOR MOVIES AND TV SHOULD REFLECT THE TOTAL DIVERSITY OF AMERICA , not just pretend the world is WHITE AND BLACK ALL BECAUSE OF INTERACIAL MARRIAGE OR DATING BETWEEN BLACKS AND WHITES . DID THE VICE PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN GAVE A STATEMENT SAYING ” WHITE EUROPEAN STOCK LIKE ME WILL BE A MINORITY IN 2017 ” so as a man of color what asian, arabics, latinos, blacks , Indonesians who b will be the future of America wants to look back at movie like star wars which THEY HAD NO LEAD AND WAS SHUT OUT IN IT???? your future movie going audience is going to be predominantly , ARABICS, ASIANS, LATINOS, INDONESIANS , not Caucasians and blacks

      1. I am NOT boycotting Star Wars VII because then the racist FanBoys (who announced their boycott FIRST) will have won. We got Finn (Black) and Dameron (Latino) hopefully, next episode we will get Asians and not of the Ming the Merciless, variety. Hope we get East Asians and South Asians and some Arabic characters as well.

  4. Oh, thank God. I thought this post was calling for people to boycott Star Wars and I was like “Oh, no! What happened? I was so pumped for this!”

But yeah, screw those people. If Mad Max: Fury Road has taught me anything, it’s that any movie that gets whiny little babies on social media is something I should put on my “to watch” list.

  5. I think aggrieved would be the wrong word….troll, very much so….its all a prank, from what I could tell it was just another 4chan troll to get peoples’ knickers in a wad

  6. you realize this was just a troll for the sake of trolling right? I highly doubt the group behind it were “aggrieved”….from what I could tell it was more than likely started by 4chan, they are popular for the hashtag trolls of epic proportions….

    1. Its still was a catalyst for other people’s hate. It brought the racist out, started as a prank but later tweets were real. They still had those thoughts just to even do this prank. A racist prank is still based in racism.

  7. English language cultures are making movies that depict the rest of the worlds phenotypes in leading roles, and the rest of the world are making movies that depict their own cultures phenotypes in leading roles. SOUNDS FAIR.
