Why Comix? Drawing the World You Want to See

If you’re in the Boston area on Thursday, January 14, then I hope you have a chance to stop by Northeastern University. Starting from 9:30am, fellow NOC and celebrated artist and scholar John Jennings will be kicking off a day-long conversation about the politics of race and identity representation in comics.

I will be part of the first session with John, Marjorie Liu, and Stacey Robinson. Throughout the day, there will be sessions featuring a slew of talented comic artists and writers of color. If you’re in New England later this week, you really shouldn’t miss it.

Co-presented by the Office of Institutional Diversity & Inclusion and the Northeastern Center for the Arts.

This symposium is in conjunction with the exhibition Visible Noize: The Art of John Jennings in Gallery360. Free & open to all. Drop by for one session, or stay all day.  For those who cannot join us, we will live stream video of the event at http://www.northeastern.edu/videostream

Participants (bios below) Marjorie Liu, John Jennings, Moya Bailey, Stacey Robinson, Keith Chow, Barrington Edwards, Nettrice Gaskins, Whit Taylor, Terry Marshall

All sessions will take place in the Northeastern Curry Student Center.
