A New Generation of Marvel Heroes is ‘Rising’

In an exclusive revealed by Buzzfeed, Marvel has announced a brand new multimedia animated project called Marvel Rising: Secret Warriors. Starting with a series of animated shorts, the plan is to have a full-length animated feature debut some time in 2018. Think of it as Marvel’s answer to the DC Super Hero Girls franchise.

The Marvel Rising roster will feature some of Marvel’s most diverse characters and thrust their teenage heroes in to the spotlight. Among the heroes included are Ghost-Spider (aka Spider-Gwen) voiced by Descendents’ Dove Cameron, Ms. Marvel voiced by Kathreen Khavari (who originally voiced the character on Disney XD’s Avengers Assemble), Quake voiced by her live action counterpart Chloe Bennet, Squirrel Girl also voiced by her live action actor Milana Vayntrub, America Chavez voiced by The Fosters’ Cierra Ramirez, and 24′s Kim Raver as Captain Marvel.

The Marvel Girls don’t get to have all the fun, however. The diverse cast will also include Booboo Stewart as Exile, Kamil McFadden as Patriot, and Tyler Posey as Inferno. Ming-Na Wen will portray the show’s main baddie, Hala.

When a threat no one could have expected bears down on the Marvel Universe, this ragtag, untrained band of teens have no choice but to rise together and prove to the world that sometimes the difference between a “hero” and “misfit” is just in the name.
