DC FanDome: ‘Titans’ Adds Barbara Gordon, Scarecrow, and Red Hood

DC Universe’s Titans is set to return for a third season, but with the current state of the pandemic, not much is known about what’s to come. Fortunately, the cast and creatives revealed some information regarding the upcoming season. The Titans are moving to Gotham City this season and will be introduced to some familiar Batman characters, including Batgirl herself — Barbara Gordon.

There was no announcement on the casting of Barbara Gordon, but it sounds like she plays a big part in Nightwing’s development.

“We got the two — the second gen[eration] coming up,” said Titans showrunner Greg Walker during DC FanDome on Saturday afternoon. “There was originally Batman and Jim Gordon, and now Nightwing and Barbara Gordon trying to deal with the mistakes of their past and it turns out to be a lot more difficult than anybody thought.”

Walker appeared virtually alongside the cast —  Brenton Thwaites, Anna Diop, Teagan Croft, Ryan Potter, Curran Walters, Conor Leslie, Minka Kelly, Alan Ritchson, and Damaris Lewis. Lewis, who plays Starfire’s sister Blackfire, has been promoted as a series regular.

“She’s going to have a room in Wayne Manor,” joked Walker about Blackfire’s role in Titans. “Get ready.”

But, it looks like Blackfire won’t be the only villain the team will be fighting against. There will be two new villains that will be introduced from the world of Gotham. Dr. Jonathan Crane, aka Scarecrow, will also be making his debut.

Walker then revealed, “Jason Todd had a rough run and a falling out with the Titans. Even though the Titans were reunited as a team, there was an absence of one who rode away on the motorcycle and had a fall out. There’s a proverb. The child who is not embraced by the village will burn it down to feel its warmth. That child comes back in the form of Red Hood.”

Walters, who plays Robin/Red Hood, cheered on the good news, “I’m ready to take it on — 100%.”

Filming for Titans has not been announced nor when the third season will even debut, but we are looking forward to it!
