It’s a match made in Heaven!
Steve Aoki’s indie record label and fashion brand Dim Mak teams up with Hasbro and Paramount Pictures’ Snake Eyes to drop an exclusive collaboration of jaw-dropping ninja-inspired gear.
The Dim Mak x Snake Eyes collaboration features five different all-black designs as a nod to the two iconic characters — Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. They each comes with Snake Eyes’ signature black ninja gear layered with Arashikage symbols and exclusive art from the film. There are two short sleeve T-shirt styles, one that features Snake Eyes and another featuring his archrival, Storm Shadow (both $38). The collection also includes the Katana long sleeve tee ($45), Arashikage Crew Neck Sweatshirt ($70), and the Double Dragon Hoodie ($80).
The team-up is perfect as Steve Aoki, who is Japanese American, highlights the intersectionality of growing up American and still celebrating his Japanese heritage. It also makes sense that Aoki is a huge G.I. Joe fan since he was a kid.
“I loved watching how Snake Eyes was the secret weapon to the G.I. Joe team when I was young — he would swoop in and save the day with just his sword and ninja skills,” said Aoki in a press statement. “I always wondered what his backstory was. When this opportunity arose to partner with Hasbro and Paramount on the origin story of Snake Eyes, I was amped on getting to know how my favorite super soldier became so incredible. I am looking forward to watching the movie and seeing how Snake Eyes is trained by the Arashikage in Japan.”
