As a mixed-Thai American, Molly McGee and her family celebrates Thai holidays and traditions. This Saturday’s episode, titled “The Very Hungry Ghost,” will have the McGees celebrating Sart Duan Sib, a celebration honoring the spirits of their ancestors by feeding them. Buddhist Thais believe that their ancestors, particularly those who have not been reincarnated yet, and other spirits will be released from the underworld during the 10th lunar month. So, they make a feast for the spirits to honor them and provide some good merit for those passed. In Scratch’s case, he tries to keep the feast all to himself.

We have an exclusive clip from tomorrow’s episode where Grandma Nin is preparing the food for the festival. The always hungry Scratch learns about this festival all about feeding hungry spirits and is excited to celebrate, but must wait until the evening to feast. Molly and Darryl serve as their grandmother’s kitchen helpers, but their sibling rivalry may get in the way of completing their tasks.

“The Very Hungry Ghost” episode of The Ghost and Molly McGee premieres Saturday, March 5 at 9:30 a.m. ET/PT on Disney Channel and in DisneyNOW.

Created by Emmy Award-winning writing and producing duo Bill Motz and Bob Roth, The Ghost and Molly McGee follows tween optimist Molly, who lives to make the world a better place, and grumpy ghost Scratch, whose job is to spread misery. When one of Scratch’s curses backfires, he finds himself forever bound to Molly, creating an unlikely friendship that leads to humorous misadventures as they navigate Molly’s new school and town. The voice cast includes Ashly Burch as Molly McGee; Dana Snyder as Scratch; Jordan Klepper as Pete McGee, Molly’s anxiously idealistic father; Michaela Dietz as Darryl, Molly’s mischievously entrepreneurial brother; and Sumalee Montano as Sharon McGee and Grandma Nin, Molly’s creatively pragmatic mom and adoring grandmother, respectively.
