Guess what nerds! In-person interviews are back! And for our first one, in what seems like forever, we’re taking you into the heart of the MCU Multiverse with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness stars, Benedict Wong and Xochitl Gomez!

A lot has happened since the debut of the first Doctor Strange in 2016 (in life and in the Marvel Studios narrative). And from a POC perspective, we know the first film was problematic. But one of its biggest highlights was Benedict Wong’s sorcerer, Wong. And since then, the MCU has expanded, and we’re now looking at an elevated position for Marvel Studios’ biggest linchpin! Stealing the show from Robert Downey Jr. in Infinity War, then bringing Shang Chi into the fold, and officially becoming The Sorcerer Supreme in No Way Home (though technically the transition probably happened in Endgame), audiences can’t get enough of this magical superman.

But this time, he’s not alone. Accompanying him and his counterpart, Stephen Strange, is the newest superhero in the MCU, America Chavez. For the unfamiliar, America Chavez made her debut in the comics in Marvel Comics’ Vengeance #1 in 2011. A rare Latina superhero that is part of the LGBTQ community, the character became an instant classic, given her super strength, flight, and ability to kick star-shaped portals to travel through various realities. As Marvel Studios’ next huge superstar, Gomez was tasked with bringing the iconic character to life, breaking down real and fictional barriers to become the MCU’s traveler through the multiverse. And so far, based on what we’ve seen, she’s going to blow people away!

Being this was the first interview we’ve conducted in person since 2019, and given we were missing a “Stephen Strange” in the room, I took the liberty of assuming the role of Doctor Strange for this interview, to ensure we completed the dream team for our watchers! But I have to say, meeting both of these incredible individuals was a genuine honor! Thank you Xochitl and Benedict!
