‘Gotham Knights’ is the Next Batman Game to Debut at DC FanDome

A new trailer for Gotham Knights, the next Batman-themed game from WB Games Montreal, premiered at DC FanDome today. Fandome is a one-day online event showcasing upcoming releases from DC Comics and Warner Brothers. The first Gotham Knights trailer debuted at 2020’s inaugural FanDome, revealing a Bat-Family (if not family-friendly) approach with Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing, and Red Hood as the main cast. Gotham & Sleepy Hollow: More Mixed Feelings on Monday Nights

This week both episodes of Gotham and Sleepy Hollow left me feeling a lot less meh, especially Sleepy Hollow. During Gotham, I noticed on my Twitter timeline either a lot of rage toward the Arkham storyline or a lot of excitement seeing the asylum for the first time on the show. Since I am not a reader of the comic books and unfamiliar with the Batman canon, perhaps I am less disturbed and annoyed by the way Arkham (and the role of the Wayne family) was introduced on the show.

Episode four of Sleepy Hollow, on the other hand, had an embarrassment of riches for #Ichabbie shippers. Those golden shipper moments in combination with some great action and comedic scenes made this episode much more fun to watch and live-tweet.

Underestimating Batman’s Sheer Brutality

Confused by the title? That’s really just me using a bunch of words to say “Batman’s a badass.” More appropriately, he’s a dangerous badass. In recent years, especially due to his many cartoons and animated appearances, two things have become prevalent about Batman: he doesn’t use guns AND he doesn’t kill. That’s all well and good, but this had led somewhat to what you might call “the Pussification of the Bat.” People seem to forget that there are fates worse than death, and Batman has dealt out this kind of justice time and time again. After all, why else would criminals be afraid of him? Anyway, this is just my way of saying that Chris Sims isn’t the only one devoting more thought that necessary to the legacy of Batman.
