‘Batman and Superman: Battle of the Super Sons’ is a Nostalgic Tribute

Richard Donner’s Superman is perhaps the most admired and cherished live-action version of the character. Donner established his spot in the “Man of Steel” hall of fame by building upon the hero’s most famous attributes. His bulletproof skin and wondrous flight were there, along with his diehard sense of truth, justice, and the American way.

‘The Midnight Swim’ Dives Deep into Grief and Depression

The journey through grief, loss, and depression can often be a solitary one. A moment in time where a world full of the diversity of life, people, animals, and color, is swept to the sea and you are left with an isolating void of muted memories and half remembered thoughts. The Midnight Swim — a 2015 film recently made available on home video and streaming — written and directed by Sarah Adina Smith, dives deep into the nuance of these feelings through poetic and graceful filmmaking.

Exploring the Extras of ‘Eternals’ on Digital

For anyone following my reviews, you’ve most likely read my thoughts on Eternals this past November. To summarize, overall, I think this is a perfectly lovely, and bold film that challenges the traditional convention for the Marvel Cinematic Universe template, taking more from Alan Moore’s Watchmen than Avengers. I realize it wasn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s fine. But for me, Chloé Zhao brought something incredibly unique into this 27-film franchise that I find severely underrated and quite special in its own right.

DC FanDome Celebrates the 20th Anniversary of ‘Smallville’

When DC first announced they were holding FanDome on October 16, I wondered if there would be any inclusion of Smallville since that date also corresponds with the first time the iconic show about Clark Kent’s high school years aired in 2001.

‘Batman: Year One’ Celebrates 10th Anniversary with Special Commemorative Edition

How is a legend created? What separates an individual from the rest of life and history to become something truly greater than flesh and bone? Ten years ago, Warner Bros. released the animated adaptation of Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One, and in that film, all of those answers were discovered. And to this day, the story and legend of the Batman has gripped audiences by their collective cores and continues to take them on the greatest ride imaginable.

Finding ‘Courage’ Again: An Interview with Marty Grabstein

If you’re anything like me, you grew up watching Cartoon Network cartoons in the late ’90s and early ’00s. There were a ton to enjoy, from Powerpuff Girls to Dexter’s Lab, and even classics like Samurai Jack. However one of the best and most underrated was a little cartoon called Courage the Cowardly Dog.

Animated ‘Injustice’ Movie Coming This October

Who’s ready for more “evil crazy Superman” action? If your name is Zack Snyder, you probably raised your hand already. Because your favorite edgy storyline (based on a video game rather than an actual comic book — unless you count the comic series inspired by the video game) about everyone’s favorite superhero going crazy and killing a bunch of characters in a dark and broody apocalyptic way is coming to Home Entertainment, courtesy of DC Animation: Injustice!

‘Snake Eyes’ Now Available to Own Digitally; Blu-Ray in October

It’s no secret that Snake Eyes holds a special place in my heart. No matter the critical reception of the film, it was always going to be a movie I celebrate. While I would’ve approached the movie differently, I am still holding out hope for a follow-up film so we can see the further adventures of Henry Golding as Snake Eyes, Andrew Koji as Storm Shadow, and the rest of the cast.

‘Superman: The Complete Animated Series’ Flies Home This October

The Timmverse is hands down my favorite interpretation of the DC Universe. Whether we’re talking about Batman: The Animated Series, or Batman Beyond, all the way up to Justice League Unlimited, no adaptation has ever reached the heights of how good these shows are with their interpretations of these heroes. None. However, often overlooked among this pantheon of adaptations has always been Superman: The Animated Series.
