NOC Review: ‘Argylle’ is a Lot of Silly Fun… Until it Isn’t

Matthew Vaughn is a talented filmmaker. For those keeping score, this is a director/writer who has done some of his best work subverting convention with terrific films like Kick-Ass and Kingsman, and bringing out humanity in the fantastical, such as X-Men: First Class and Stardust.

Capturing the ‘Ninja Turtles’ Look with ‘Mutant Mayhem’ Cinematographer Kent Seki

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem is officially in theaters! And if you haven’t seen this one yet, we cannot recommend it enough. It’s spectacular! And part of the reason this one is special is because of how beautiful and charming the movie looks, from it’s wonderful animation style to the filmmakers’ abilities to put some challenging but gorgeous action sequences on screen. And none of that would be possible without the film’s talented cinematographer, Kent Seki!

NOC Review: ‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’ Goes Full Turtle Power

“Go ninja, go ninja, go!” Those were the immortal words uttered in the finale of arguably the last good movie based on Laird and Eastman’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. That may be a controversial statement for fans for the Bay-produced 2014 and 2016 films, the 2007 cheaply animated movie TMNT, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III. But as a fan myself, whether for nostalgic or legitimate reasons, nothing ever really topped the first two live action films from 1990 and 1991. Until now.

‘Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem’ Trailer Teases Superfly Animation

Of all the cinematic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles iterations that we’ve got in the past, there was only one animated one. Gunn-ing for Peace: James Gunn on ‘Peacemaker’

Genius. Gonzo. Hilarious. Surreal. All four adjectives typically go hand-in-hand when speaking about the work of Peacemaker and The Suicide Squad mastermind, James Gunn. Indeed, the master filmmaker has been putting his unique, identifiable stamp on every project he’s shepherded since the first film he wrote — 1997’s Tromeo and Juliet. And from there, Gunn’s star has only grown brighter, serving as a testament to how sometimes, Hollywood gets it right, and rightfully rewards the talented.

NOC Review: ‘Peacemaker’ Makes For a Solid Piece of Television

Without hesitation, I can declare proudly that James Gunn’s gonzo comic book masterpiece, The Suicide Squad was easily one of my top five films of 2021. In addition to a fun story, gorgeously shot visuals, and hilariously raunchy script, we fell in love with the likes of fellow misfits Ratcatcher II, Polka Dot Man, and King Shark.
