When a pilot declares an “emergency declaration,” everything is given priority to that plane as it is in the most imminent danger. All other planes are rerouted or grounded as resources are then directed to that plane until it can land safely. It is the first note to be shown in Jae-rim Han’s new film Emergency Declaration to establish the importance of this statement by the pilot.

‘Alive’ Is a Banger of a Zombie Movie You Didn’t Know You Needed

I am a stickler for zombie films. I just try to do right by George A. Romero, rest his soul. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, as well as Zack Snyder’s remake, hold an incredibly important place in my zombie infested heart. I think a filmmaker who endeavors to shoot a zombie flick is only as good as the fear they can induce with scenes shot during the day. Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later should be at the top of all of our lists for the kind of anxiety inducing scenes Cillian Murphy so masterfully carried us through.

A Conversation with ‘Almost American Girl’ Robin Ha

Moving as an adolescent, especially moving to another country, is hard. Being forced to move, and unknowingly doing so only to realize later your life has changed, is severely difficult, but can also be fortifying. Writer and cartoonist Robin Ha knows that latter experience all too well, relaying it at Washington DC’s Fantom Comics, speaking with The Nerds of Color EIC Keith Chow about her new graphic memoir, Almost American Girl, this past February 8.

The Happy Hour Review: Colossal is Basically White Feminism

I watch, I drink, I spit hot fire. Yup, you guessed it, spoilers ahead.

Colossal checked off a lot of boxes for what I would theoretically enjoy in a movie. Directed by Nacho Vigalondo, it is often funny, surprisingly dark, and an inventive new take on kaiju movies. I like all those things. The lead, Gloria, is easy to root for as played by star Anne Hathaway. And Jason Sudeikis impresses as Gloria’s friend and eventual foil, Oscar. For about half of the movie, I found this all very enjoyable.
