Artists Matt Huynh and Yumi Sakugawa Live From #CrossLines

Even though the Smithsonian’s CrossLines pop-up culture lab on intersectionality happened two months ago, we’ve been milking our live artist conversations ever since. Sadly, today marks the final live edition of Hard NOC Life, but it’s definitely worth the wait! Join acclaimed artists Matt Huynh and Yumi Sakugawa as they talk about their work and installations presented at the Smithsonian.

First up, Matt Huynh chats with Keith about his work on the interactive multimedia comic for Australian television, The Boat, and his affinity for The Incredible Hulk stories before discussing and showing the live mural he painted during the exhibit — btw, check out this 360 image of the mural.

Meanwhile, Yumi Sakugawa talks about her history as an artist — from a fine art major in college to an independent comics and zine creator — and how her Fashion Forecasts installation evolved from a series of informal drawings on Instagram. She then gives viewers a quick tour of the fashions she designed for the museum.

All this and more on Hard NOC Life! Watch it on your screen, hit “play,” and check this.

Special thanks to Lawrence Minh-Bui Davis and Adriel Luis from the Smithsonian APA for inviting us to be a part of CrossLines!
