Good Times at Animé Los Angeles

Hey guys, Edward here. My fellow NOC writer Josephine Chang and I seriously like to geek/nerd out at all the major SoCal conventions, especially the anime ones. So with that being said, it gives us great pleasure to talk to you all about Animé Los Angeles.

Established in 2005, ALA is a medium-sized, community-focused anime convention with a more moderate-paced environment. And these days where many conventions are rather chaotic in size and nature, ALA has become a nice reprieve. If you’re a first timer when it comes to anime conventions, this is the one for you.

From January 25 – 28th of this year, they’ll be returning to the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California for a third consecutive year. Animé Los Angeles will be bringing industry icons Steve Blum (Cowboy Bebop, Star Wars: Rebels, Voice of Wolverine) and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn (Star Wars: Rebels, Steven Universe, Critical Role) to headline its fourteenth year!

Also joining the ALA 2018 guest list are Beau Billlingslea (Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, Digimon), Les Claypool (Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Big O), Mary Claypool (Cowboy Bebop, Ghost in the Shell, Big O), Melissa Fahn (Cowboy Bebop, Digimon, Invader Zim), Victor Frost (Steven Universe Universe, Frostworks), and Paul St. Peter (Cowboy Bebop, Naruto, Kingdom Hearts).

Truth be told, this is really just a massive Cowboy Bebop reunion for the English VO actors

But if there’s one thing I love about anime conventions are the eccentric and rather fun events they have. Here are some that I’ll be looking forward to this weekend:

THE DANCES.

One of the many DJs playing at the convention this weekend!

THE FASHION SHOW.

THE MASQUERADE.

THE COSPLAY.

AND OH YES, THE RIBBONS.
