BIO: Diane is a filmmaker whose feature film debut Yellow Rose, follows Rose, an undocumented Filipino girl, who dreams of one day leaving her small Texas town to pursue her country music dreams. Her world is shattered when her mom suddenly gets picked up by immigration and Customs Enforcement. Rose, facing this new reality, is forced to flee the scene, leaving behind the only life she knows, and embarks on a journey of self-discovery as she searches for a new home in the honky tonk world of Austin, Texas. The film is distributed by Sony Pictures Worldwide/Stage 6 Films and was released on October 9, 2020, marking a milestone as the first Filipino and Filipino-American film to be acquired by Sony Pictures for theatrical release in the US.

Yellow Rose was part of Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY 360 film series in 2019 and has garnered 13 film festival jury and audience awards including: Special Jury Award – Best Narrative Feature at the Asian American International Film Festival and the Grand Jury Prize – Best Narrative Feature and Best Breakout Performance for Eva Noblezada at the Los Angeles Asian Pacific Film Festival. Diane wrote, directed, and composed several original songs for the film.

She was featured in 2020’s A100: Most impactful Asians and Asian American & Pacific Islanders (AAPIs) on American culture for her work. Additionally, her documentary Brooklyn Boheme, co-directed by Nelson George, celebrated the African-American art movement that launched the careers of Spike Lee, Chris Rock and Rosie Perez, to name a few. The film went on to win the Black Reel award for Best Television Documentary and premiered on Showtime. She recently booked her follow up film, The Perfect Song, which will be produced by Erik Feig under his Picturestart banner along with Scooter Braun Productions.
