‘The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers’ Strikes with an Official Trailer and Poster

With Hollywood doing remakes and reboots, it does get a little bit tiring seeing our favorite shows and movies growing up be twisted and changed. But, Disney+ is offering something a little different to the ‘90s Mighty Ducks franchise with The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers. Instead of a new film with new characters and the same storyline, Disney+ decides to bring back everybody’s favorite coach, Gordon Bombay (Emilio Estevez), to bring back the magic in a new group of kids.

Set in present-day Minnesota, the Mighty Ducks we all know and love have evolved from the scrappy underdogs to an ultra-competitive youth hockey team. After 12-year-old Evan Morrow (Brady Noon) is cut from the Ducks, he sets out to form his own team. With his mother’s (Lauren Graham) encouragement, Evan recruits an entirely new team of underdogs who need a lot of help. That’s where Coach Bombay comes in.

The trailer was released today by Disney+ and, needless to say, it was nostalgic to see the return of Coach Bombay for the next generation of Mighty Ducks fans. The 10-episode season will premiere Friday, March 26 on Disney+. The series features a talented new team of up-and-coming young actors including Brady Noon, Maxwell Simkins, Swayam Bhatia, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham, and DJ Watts.

Steve Brill, the original creator, writer, and executive producer of all three films, which spawned an NHL franchise, is back as co-creator and executive producer of the new series. Josh Goldsmith and Cathy Yuspa (The King of Queens, 13 Going On 30) are co-creators and will serve as executive producers and showrunners. Michael Spiller serves as executive producer/director on the series, with James Griffiths serving as director/EP on the Pilot. Emilio Estevez is an executive producer and Lauren Graham is co-executive producer. George Heller and Brad Petrigala of Brillstein Entertainment Partners and Jon Avnet and Jordan Kerner also serve as non-writing executive producers.

There’s no word that any of the characters from the Mighty Ducks films will make an appearance in the new series, but here’s to hoping.
