Nothing is Black and White in Monochromatic Trailer for ‘Passing’

Being “white-passing” comes with a certain kind of privilege. One that can mean the difference between a life of discrimination or a life of luxury. Such a privilege is the topic of discussion in Passing, the brand new film based on the book by Nella Larsen, coming to Netflix and select theaters later this year.

Passing stars Tessa Thompson and Ruth Negga as Irene Redfield and Clare Kendry, respectively. Two “white passing” black women living in 1920s New York during the height of the Harlem Renaissance.

Irene lives her life in glamour with her white husband (portrayed by Alexander Skarsgård) and a large group of peers. After getting invited to join Irene’s social circle, Clare finds herself in a world that could turn on both her and Irene at any given moment.

The first trailer for Passing has just debuted, along with some key art for the Netflix feature, and The NOC has it all!

Passing also stars Bill Camp, Gbenga Akinnagbe, Antoinette Crowe-Legacy, and André Holland. The Netflix original hits the steamer in November 10, but lucky select theaters can check it out October 27.
