Here’s Concept Art for the New ‘Batgirl’ Film From DC FanDome

A special DC Spotlight at DC FanDome 2021 featured Leslie Grace, Adil El Arbi, Bilall Fallah, and Christina Hodson giving a bunch of awesome first details about Batgirl. DC FanDome is DC’s free, global virtual fan event featuring a live webcast and activities, for one day only on October 16, where DC showcases their biggest movies, games, shows, comics and more. It was also revealed that the film is currently in pre-production.

“We wanted to have a very broad, broad casting. It was a very broad a range of ages and races, and what was important for us was that the best actress for the part would be cast. Eventually, we saw Leslie and it was a goose bump moment,” Arbi and Fallah shared at the virtual event. “She just, like that, hit a nerve and it felt like, ‘Okay, we are actually watching Barbara go.'”

“A lot of times, we focus a lot on the male superheroes, but it was really exciting to read for a female superhero that has that grit, and is very sincere and almost eager to prove herself,” Grace expressed.

Here is the exclusive film concept art that was shown:

Grace also discussed the action and fight sequences, saying, “I’m really excited about the action. I mean, I’m training so hard and we’re trying to get as much learned in my body before I get there. So I’m excited about what that’s gonna actually look like once we have a suit and once we’re on location, figuring out those fight sequences.”

It was confirmed by everyone that Batgirl will have red hair in the film as well!
