Nick Kroll is back as the voice of Gunter in Illumination’s Sing 2. The film, which is a sequel to Sing, combines dozens of classic rock and pop hit songs, electrifying performances, and breathtaking artistry. Sing 2 is in theaters on December 22!
This holiday season, the new chapter in Illumination’s smash animated franchise arrives with big dreams and spectacular hit songs as the ever-optimistic koala, Buster Moon, and his all-star cast of performers prepare to launch their most dazzling stage extravaganza yet… all in the glittering entertainment capital of the world. There’s just one hitch: They first have to persuade the world’s most reclusive rock star — played by global music icon Bono, in his animated film debut — to join them.
Nick Kroll co-created, writes, produces, and performs over 30 voices on the Emmy-Nominated Netflix animated series Big Mouth, which is based on his childhood. He and his Big Mouth co-creators recently announced their newest project for Netflix, Human Resources.
The actor can also be heard lending his voice in The Addams Family 2 and will next be seen in the upcoming film Don’t Worry Darling. He created and starred in the critically acclaimed Kroll Show, which ran on Comedy Central. He also starred in the hit FX show The League. Other credits include What We Do in the Shadows, Dickinson, Our Flag Means Death, and Roar. Kroll co-wrote and starred in Oh, Hello on Broadway for 138 sold out shows, which resulted in a Netflix special of the same name.
I had the chance to chat with Nick Kroll about what he’s learned from Gunter, which musical number he was most excited to see, being part of a film that the entire family can enjoy, returning for a sequel, his tagline for Sing 2, and much more!
