The CW’s ‘Kung Fu’ Season Two Promo Reveals Nicky’s Long Lost Cousin

Kung Fu season two is set to return in March!

Since its season finale back in July, there were many new questions that popped up in the finale — Who is Nicky’s cousin? How is she connected to the ruthless Russell Tan? Is Kerwin going to be okay? What’s up the the ‘biàn gé’ flower? How is Zhilan going to get out of prison? What is Athena going to be wearing this season? Okay, the last one is really just for me.

In the promo, released by Entertainment Tonight, we get a quick glimpse of season two, including the appearance of Nicky’s mysterious cousin, Mia (played by newcomer, Vanessa Yao). If you remember last season, Mia is a product of a Warrior and Guardian, which either makes her a powerful adversary or ally. And from the looks of it, Mia and Nicky (Olivia Liang) are going to battle it out in the series.

As we learned from last season, Russell Tan is set up to be the Big Bad and has big plans for the Shen family and for the city of San Francisco. Evan (Gavin Stenhouse) warns Nicky in the promo, “He’s not just buying property. He’s buying people. I don’t know what he has planned in this city, but I can tell it’s something big.”

And, it looks like the threat is going to be local. With the ‘biàn gé’ flower growing at the end of season one, co-showrunner Robert Berens revealed to The Nerds of Color that this season will focus on the dangers within San Francisco, “As far as a teaser goes, our intention moving into season two is to dig a little bit into the history of San Francisco Chinatown and [how] it will be connected to the mythology as well.”

Get ready, everyone.

Kung Fu also stars Eddie Liu, Tzi Ma, Kheng Hua Tan, Shannon Dang, Jon Prasida, Vanessa Kai, Tony Chung and Yvonne Chapman, as well as new cast members Annie Q and J.B. Tadena.

Season two of Kung Fu premieres Wednesday, March 9 at 9 pm ET/PT on The CW.
