Easter is coming this August, folks! And by that I mean, Easter Sunday! For someone like me, who is Filipino American, this is a really, incredibly special moment. We now actually have a major studio financed and distributed wide release centering on a Filipino family.

While this industry has had some major success in movies like Crazy Rich Asians, it’s important to note that other cultures within the Asian diaspora deserve equal representation. We can’t just call it a day and make umbrella movies to represent all Asians. Which is why it’s so important that we’re getting this movie. Thank you Universal, Dreamworks, and Jo Koy!

This trailer slaps hard! The jokes land, and are especially meaningful if you’re a Filipino person who’s had these hilarious miscommunications with their families. Once again, the fact that this is captured on film, is so meaningful. But don’t take my word for it.

In addition to the trailer, check out Jo Koy in these first look images and the giant poster for the movie!

Easter Sunday hits theaters August 5!
