‘Strange World’ Trailer Brings Classic Sci-Fi Adventure with a Bit of Disney Magic

UNFORGETTABLE ADVENTURE STORY – Disney’s “Strange World” is an original action-packed comedy adventure in the spirit of pulp novels. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ 61st animated feature film features the voices of Lucy Liu as Callisto Mal, fearless leader of the mythical Avalonia who spearheads an exploration into a strange world; Dennis Quaid as legendary larger-than-life explorer Jaeger Clade; Jake Gyllenhaal as Searcher Clade, a family man who finds himself out of his element on an unpredictable mission; Jaboukie Young-White as Searcher’s 16-year-old son, Ethan, who longs for adventure; and Gabrielle Union as Meridian Clade, an accomplished pilot and Searcher’s partner in all things. Also featuring a mischievous blue blob called Splat and a three-legged dog named Legend, “Strange World” opens in theaters on Nov. 23, 2022.

Walt Disney Animation Studios has released the newest trailer for their latest feature film, Strange World. Directed by Don Hall and Qui Nguyen, both of whom worked together on Raya and the Last Dragon, Strange World follows Searcher Clade (Jake Gyllenhaal), a simple farmer who comes from a long line of explorers.

However, the a vital resources starts to lose its power, Searcher is forced to tackle their latest and most crucial mission as they must rely on each other and forced to put away their differences while in an uncharted and treacherous land to find a special creature that awaits.

Based on the pulp magazines that took readers on wild adventures into the unknown, Strange World intends to tell the story of an interracial family while addressing themes about legacy — as noted by the strained relationship between Searcher and his larger-than-life explorer father Jaeger Clade (Dennis Quaid). And this new trailer gives us a better sense of those family dynamics as well as the dangerous environments they will have to face if they are to survive and finish the mission.

Strange World introduces a legendary family of explorers, the Clades, as they attempt to navigate an uncharted, treacherous land alongside a motley crew that includes a mischievous blob, a three-legged dog and a slew of ravenous creatures. “Inspired by classic adventure stories,” said director Don Hall, “Strange World is an original animated adventure/comedy about three generations of the Clade family who overcome their differences while exploring a strange, wondrous and oftentimes hostile world.”

Of course, if the family bonds grow stronger and relationships are repaired — or even strengthened — that is a bonus. And it’s only more fun when you throw a bit of a harrowing adventure into the mix.

Strange World also features the voices of Jaboukie Young-White Searcher’s 16-year-old son, Ethan, who longs for adventure, and Gabrielle Union as Meridian Clade, an accomplished pilot and Searcher’s partner in all things. Lucy Liu voices Callisto Mal, Avalonia’s fearless leader who spearheads the exploration into the strange world.

Even the film’s newest poster is a throwback to those adventure films into the unknown as it centers on three generations of a family with different expressions. With Ethan expressing excitement and wonder, while Searcher has reluctance and fear in his eyes, and of course, Jaeger is raring to dive head-first and ask questions later.

Produced by Roy Conli  (Oscar®-winning Big Hero 6, Tangled), Strange World releases November 23, 2022.
