A peaceful-looking island on an unknown planet, followed immediately by members of the squad of genetically altered clones, the Bad Batch, being chased by large crabs, breaks the ground for a glimpse at what’s to come from the upcoming second season of Star Wars: The Bad Batch. Set in the aftermath of Order 66, the show follows these group of rogue clones, as they navigate a galaxy under this questionable new Empire.

While they’ve been keeping as far out of the way from the Empire’s radar as much as possible, the trailer seems to hint at the likelihood that they can’t stay away from the fight forever. All the while, other clones outside of the Bad Batch appear to be questioning their own actions and whether or not they can still serve the Empire in the direction that it’s going in.

Familiar faces that we’ll be running into were teased, like Captain Rex and Commander Cody. In addition, new characters like Phee Genoa (Wanda Sykes) are also briefly revealed; intentions yet to be known.

The first season already sets up just what this squad is up against, as far as the mercilessness of the Empire goes. Where the story heads from here appears to be sky high.

The second season of The Bad Batch will be having a two-episode premiere on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 exclusively on Disney+.
