Rocking Out with the Legendary Star-Lord: Chris Pratt from ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3’

It has been an emotional journey guardians! But sadly, it’s time to face the music. This week Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters, bringing one of the greatest superhero trilogies of all time to a close with one final track.

And we, at The Nerds of Color, were so incredibly lucky to sit down in-person with The Legendary Star-Lord himself, Chris Pratt, to talk about the final ride with this cast of lovable a-holes, and writer/director James Gunn!

The film (which I loved by the way) begins with Peter Quill still reeling from the death of Gamora. But her sudden reappearance, following the events of Infinty War and Endgame, complicates his emotions about her and about life, ultimately setting him forward on a greater path for self-discovery and validation amidst the journey to save one of the Guardians from impending death. Pratt has been absolutely great in this role since 2014, but in Vol. 3, he absolutely pushes his acting chops further. The Guardians are put through the emotional ringer (alongside the audience), and the way he weaves between the complicated fabric of his broken emotional state, his anguish, and the quest for inner-peace throughout this movie is nothing short of astounding.

We had a good time reflecting on the journey he’s been on since the first Guardians film, as well as his thoughts on the Gamora recurrance, and the music of the franchise.

Take a look at what he had to say here in our in-person interview right here:

And be sure to catch the final track when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 hits theaters this Friday!

And stay tuned to The Nerds of Color all this week for more coverage of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3!
