Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) has never played by the rules. He constantly subverts the superhero expectations with his self-depricating humor, bad attitude, and breaking the fourth wall. After two films and a studio acquisition, The Merc with the Mouth is finally ready to go to a place where no Marvel superhero owned by a rival studio has gone before while also making a long-dynamic happen. And the Deadpool and Wolverine trailer teases where everyone’s favorite hero is at in his life and how Marvel Studios finds a loophole to bring him into the MCU.

That’s right, Deadpool is joining the MCU properly. Though he’s had access to a time-travel device that allows him to break the canon recklessly, Wade Wilson appears to be at a point in his life where he didn’t need to go out and kill someone. But that is all about to change. Wade tells us that it has been a challenigng few years, but he’s happy. And that is apparent with the cheerful birthday celebrations. He is the luckiest person alive thanks in no small part to every member of X-Force. And after he makes the obligatory birthday wish, he receives a knock at the door from none other than Time Variance Authority Agents.

Armed with their Time Sticks, Deadpool doesn’t take the TVA’s weapons seriously. In fact, he cracks a joke that pegging isn’t new for him, but it is for Disney. After giving one quick look at the camera, a time door appears behind him, and he is snatched by the TVA, with one agent tossing Wade’s blonde wig on the fllor.

Paradox (Matthew Macfadyen) fills Wade in on the details, telling him that he “shat” himself while unconscious, though our title hero would never admit to that. As he gets the grand tour, we see Wade in a locker room, where his uniform is hanging here just begging for him to put it on.

Paradox tells Deadpool that this is his chance to stand with heroes. As he directs Wade’s attention to a wall of monitors displaying the MCU heroics, we see Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, and other heroes in their best moments from “Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and more.

Whatever mission the TVA needs him for, Deadpool claims that he is about to change the cinematic universe forever. He dubs himself, Marvel Jesus. To which Paradox scrunches his face. So after a quick suit up montage which includes putting guns in holsters, swords in their sheaths, and a few butt slaps. It appears that he is ready. And judging by the quick action shots, which includes a few head stabs and one awesome midair reload, we get to see Deadpools latest mission and a tag that reads “Everyone deserves a happy ending.” We get to see a snippet of a dystopian world and Pyro who apparently is going to love what happens next.

After Deadpool is through clear through a concrete wall, we see Wolverine’s shadow. Deadpool asks him to help him up in a very sarcastic way, which he soon regrets when Wolverine unsheathes his claws.

Shawn Levy directs Deadppol and Wolverine” which also Hugh Jackman, Emma Corrin, Morena Baccarin, Rob Delaney, Leslie Uggams, Karan Soni, and Matthew Macfadyen.

Deadpool and Wolverine opens in theaters on July 26, 2024.
