James Gunn Reveals ‘Superman’ Shield on First Day of Filming

To celebrate the first day of filming — and the titular hero’s canonical birthday — director and co-head of DC Studios, James Gunn, took to social media to share the first official image from the movie formerly known as Superman: Legacy.

Now titled, simply, Superman, Gunn’s post revealed that the speculation about a stylized Kingdom Come-inspired crest would indeed be the symbol used on David Corenswet’s super suit. The flecks of snow also imply the photo was presumably taken on the set of the Fortress of Solitude.

Now that principal photography has begun on Superman, we’ll likely get more reveals from the set, including a first look at Corenswet inside the suit itself.

Just last week, the director shared a selfie of the cast after they gathered for the film’s first table read. Maybe these peeks into the production of Superman will be a weekly thing?

July 2025 still feels like a long way away, but Superman will be here faster than a speeding bullet!
