The Cast and Executive Producers of ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ on the Final Season

We speak with series stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Wilson Cruz, Mary Wiseman, Blu De Barrio, Doug Jones, David Ajala, and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise about what to expect in Star Trek: Discovery Season 5.

The crew of the USS Discovery has been through some extreme adventures, even and especially by Star Trek standards. From facing the Klingon Empire, parallel universe threats, to defeating a Rogue A.I that would have taken down the whole Federation, to being flung over 900 years into the future, it’s been a wildly cosmic ride for the crew of Discovery, as their titular show has pushed the boundaries of stories that Star Trek can tell.

But with their stellar cast and riveting storytelling, there’s always been a grounded nature Discovery. The audience marvels at the wonders the crew sees without losing that deep sense of connection to these well-rounded characters who constantly deal with their own insecurities and rise above them to the tasks at hand. For those and many more reasons, Star Trek: Discovery will be deeply missed.

In anticipation of the fifth and final season debuting April 4, we got to speak with series stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Wilson Cruz, Mary Wiseman, Blu De Barrio, Doug Jones, and David Ajala about the journey so far for each of their characters and what audiences can expect from Season 5. We also spoke with executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Paradise on how important Discovery was for heralding in modern Star Trek, and why this franchise still is a hopeful beacon for the future with so many horrible events unfolding in the world today.

Star Trek: Discovery Season 5 will debut on Paramount+ on April 4.
