EW Shares the Details and a First Look at ‘Batman: Caped Crusader’

Nearly three years to the date since it was officially announced, fans are finally getting their first glimpses at Bruce Timm’s return to animating Gotham: Batman: Caped Crusader, debuting later this year on Prime Video.

When Batman: Caped Crusader was first announced in May 2021, it was paired with My Adventures with Superman and supposed to be on Cartoon Network and HBO Max. After Discovery took over Warner Bros., Caped Crusader was one of the initial Bat-casualties (still not getting over Batgirl) until Amazon swooped in and saved the day.

Now, the long awaited animated series from Timm and co-creators Matt Reeves and JJ Abrams has a premiere date: August 1, 2024!

To celebrate the announcement, Entertainment Weekly sat down with Timm and character designer James Tucker for an exclusive interview and images showcasing the show’s film noir aesthetic.
