What a long, wonderful, weird journey it’s been for The Hargreeves family. But alas, it’s time to say goodbye to our favorite superpowered orphans. Today, Netflix dropped the first trailer for the final countdown! It’s the official trailer for the final season of The Umbrella Academy.

Since 2019, we’ve seen not only these characters grow and evolve, but the wonderful cast as well. Elliot Page wrote a terrific memoir and discovered himself. Ritu Arya starred in the wonderful Polite Society. Justin Min is now a big star thanks to After Yang and Shortcomings. I can go on and on, but the point is, this show is special, and has acted as a special breakthrough title for these talented performers. Now we have a chance to see them as a family for one last mission, and I’m so not ready to say goodbye.

Nevertheless, the trailer looks stellar! Check it out for yourself here:

Adapted from the Dark Horse graphic novels by My Chemical Romance front man, Gerard Way, The Umbrella Academy allowed us to fall in love with a dysfunctional band of misfits for the past years, all while giving us a ton of fun and weird timey-wimey sci-fi action, and even tackling social issues such as racism and LGBTQ+ identity.

To see these excellent characters and performers getting the happy ending they deserve, at last, would be our absolute pleasure. If the world (or the show) is going to end, at least it’ll do so with a bang!

The final season of The Umbrella Academy hits Netflix, August 8, 2024
