The anticipated Apple TV+ critically acclaimed drama Pachinko season two trailer is finally here! The eight-episode season of the series will premiere globally on Friday, August 23, with one episode, followed by weekly episodes every Friday through October 11.

Based on Min Jin Lee’s New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, Pachinko tells the story of love and loss across four generations through the eyes of the matriarch, Sunja (Youn Jung and Min-ha Kim as the young adult version).

In the trailer, we catch glimpses of Japan in 1945 before the atomic bomb that destroyed Hiroshima and Nagasaki. Sunja’s former lover (and father to her eldest son) Koh Hansu (Lee Min-ho) seeks Sunja out, warning of the chaos that is about to happen with the bombings.

We also see the return of Sunja’s husband, Baek Isak (Noh Sang-hyun “Steven”), after he is jailed for his Christian faith. We then also see Sunja’s grandson Solomon (Jin Ha) as he navigates his life in the post-corporate world and a budding new love, Naomi (Recent Emmy-nominated actress Anna Sawai) in 1989.

The trailer does have an emotional punch — especially if you have read the book and know what happens. But the series did make some changes from the first season, and it would not be a surprise if they made some creative changes for this season as well.

If you are wondering who the voice behind the cover of Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida” in the trailer is — look no further. That’s Rosé of BLACKPINK. The song is also featured in the season two finale.
