Holy crap! If you’re a fan of comic book author James Tynion IV, you’re going to want to hear this! Because the Boom! Studios social accounts have officially revealed that development and pre-production have officially started on Netflix’s adaptation of the award-winning comic book series, Something is Killing the Children!

Debuting in September 2019, the series became an instant hit for Boom! Studios, receiving multiple Eisner awards in subsequent years, and continuing to sell impressive numbers for the publisher. In 2021, Boom! announced an adaptation was moving forward at Netflix under horror genius Mike Flannigan. However, Flannigan departed the project due to creative differences, and was replaced by the creators of Netflix’s acclaimed series, Dark, Baran bo Odar and Jantje Friese. While things have been quite since, today the adaptation received a major update with the official scripts for the first season officially under way by Odar and Friese.

Take a look at the official social media post below:

The comic book series centers around a monster hunter named Erica Slaughter, who comes to the town of Archer’s Peak to help the citizens there find their children, after they begin mysteriously disappearing. They discover that an evil monster has been abducting and slaughtering them all, and it’s up to Erica and her extraordinary abilities to end this.

No official plans or release dates have been set for the Netflix adaptation of the series, but one thing’s for sure: when the series drops, I’m hitting “play” immediately!
