We have a huge one for you today, everyone! With Dreamworks’ new animated classic, The Wild Robot debuting this week, the Oscar race for Best Animated Feature has never been tighter. A huge part of why this movie is a masterpiece boils down to the wonderful work of Academy Award winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, who brilliantly voices the titular “Wild Robot,” ROZZUM-7134 — aka “Roz.”

The Wild Robot is all about love. And with a character as multidimensional as Roz, with an arc as beautifully told and touching as what we see unfold in this film, an actress who could carry out the complexities and conundrums of a service bot who evolves and learns to care about nature and a child needed to be enlisted. Thankfully, Dreamworks and writer/director Chris Sanders found one in Nyong’o, who audiences everywhere already know is such a terrific, multi-talented, versatile actress.

Having won an Oscar for 12 Years a Slave, and continuing her incredible streak of acclaimed performances in blockbusters like Us and the Black Panther films, as well as this year’s A Quiet Place: Day One, Nyong’o breathes so much life, spirit, and hope into Roz, and takes us on this wonderful journey as she beautifully does justice to both the script and the source material of The Wild Robot. In short, Nyong’o’s work in the film is among one of the chief reasons why The Wild Robot is destined to become an animated classic for the ages!
