One of my biggest goals for the 2025 year is highlighting and amplifying more works of art by Palestinian artists around the world.
To begin this year off strong, I am truly excited to tell you all about actor and playwright Sadieh Rifai’s play The Cave, which will have its world premiere at A Red Orchid Theatre with the production running from January 30 to March 16, 2025 (previews from January 30 to February 8).
If you’re in the Chicago area, you must definitely check this out. More details below:
Amidst breaking news of the first Gulf War, tragedy forces a Palestinian American family to move from Las Vegas to Columbus, Ohio, upending their lives. Jamil struggles to hold himself and his family together as the world becomes unbalanced and terror can no longer be buried behind closed doors. Sadieh Rifai’s thriller of a new play examines how a family across cultures and generations leans into love and humor in the face of global turmoil and a fracturing American dream.
Directed by Alex Mallory, the cast features Aaliyah Montana, Ashley Neal, Kirsten Fitzgerald, John Judd, Guy Van Swearingen, H. Adoni Esho, Milla Liss, Natalie West, and Omer Abbas Salem.
