Reno Wilson and Christina Milian star as Detective Bobby Watt and CSI Chief Tanya Martin in Dexter: Original Sin. New episodes debut Fridays on Paramount+ with Showtime and air on Sunday nights at 10 PM ET/PT.
Serving as a prequel to the award-winning SHOWTIME series DEXTER, DEXTER: ORIGINAL SIN is set in 1991 Miami and follows Dexter (Gibson) as he transitions from student to avenging serial killer. When his bloodthirsty urges can’t be ignored any longer, Dexter must learn to channel his inner darkness. With the guidance of his father, Harry (Slater), he adopts a Code designed to help him find and kill people who deserve to be eliminated from society without getting on law enforcement’s radar. This is a particular challenge for young Dexter as he begins a forensics internship at the Miami Metro Police Department.
Wilson explained, “I just think when you get connected to a story, especially one that was as good as Dexter was, when you have the opportunity to get more information on these characters that you love, you’re just instantly in.”
“I think sometimes they say in life, somebody could have just said one thing, whether it’s an affirmation, there’s one little sign that you saw that just changed the whole structure of your life that lives with you for the rest of your life, I think these are those moments that are formative, especially for Dexter,” Milian added. “We’ve seen what he’s become and we know some of the backstory of how it started, but there’s all these little moments that actually make him, that mold him. And so, people want to see more of that.”
I asked the actors about the desire for prequels, the first thing that stood out to them about their characters, and more.
