Walt Disney Animation Studios has released a new music-driven trailer for Zootopia 2. The sequel, following in the footsteps of Disney hits like Frozen, Moana, and Wreck-It Ralph, returns to a world of anthropomorphic animals that mirrors our own.
In the first film, rookie rabbit cop Judy Hopps (Ginnifer Goodwin) teams up with sly fox Nick Wilde (Jason Bateman) to crack a mysterious case. Now, nearly a decade after the film’s release, the two are back to solve another case that involves Gary De’Snake (Ke Huy Quan).
In Zootopia 2, Judy and Nick reunite for a high-stakes pursuit of a slithering suspect named Gary through the bustling animal metropolis. It’s unclear why the snake has arrived but it looks like he is involved in a case that will force the bunny and fox to explore the larger world beyond the original city like Marsh Market. Of course, just like the last one, not everything is as it seems. There’s probably a larger conspiracy at play that could shake up the predator and prey dynamics. We’ll just have to wait and see.
The teaser trailer itself lives up to its wild reputation of offering nothing when it comes to footage or story, but still offers just enough to get audiences hyped to see the coming sequel. And they do that by showing flashes of characters and the many environmental districts of Zootopia. Judy and Nick say their hellos, and then are joined by Gary. From there they are chased by intimidating members of the Zootopia police force (rhinos, hippos, elephants and more) from one end of the screen to the other, which each transition taking us through the many parts of Zootopia. There will be lots of running, swimming, and swinging. And all of that set to the tune of EDM music.
And just when things get a little bit too intense, Judy uses an air horn to make it a real animal party.
From there we get to see a small tease of the film’s chief villain, who is literally shrouded in a cloak of mystery. The face is hidden, but there is an onimous yellow glow to his eyes. It’s enough to make Judy, Nick, and Gary back away in fear.
After that, we get flashes of returning fan favorites and a few new faces — both familiar and fresh — like Officer Benjamin Clawhauser, the notorious Mr. Big, world pop star sensation Gazelle, DMV finest Flash, an incarcerated Dawn Bellwether, and a few new additions as well. With these new faces, Zootopia 2 continues to expand its diverse ensemble in ways that feel organic to its evolving world.
Directed by Jared Bush and Byron Howard, with a script written by Bush, Zootopia 2 opens in theaters on November 26, 2025.
