To celebrate the release of Shang-Chi and The Legend of the Ten Rings on Blu-ray and DVD, actress Meng’er Zhang sat down with The Nerds of Color to talk about all the good spoilers she couldn’t talk about before — Xialing’s relationship with her father (Tony Leung), her brother (Simu Liu), and the organization she has now inherited, The Ten Rings.

“For me, she never had the love from her father and I think there is hate, but there is need,” says Zhang during a video interview with TNOC. “I want your love. Between Shang-Chi and Xialing. I think Xialing is the one who is like Wenwu more. She’s ambitious like Wenwu and she likes power — just like her dad.”

Zhang further explained that Shang-Chi and Xialing were in the midst of battle during that time, so Xialing probably didn’t have time to process it.

“I think afterwards, she had a good thing of it,” says Zhang. “I think that’s why in the end credit scenes, she’s [on] the throne. It’s exciting. I think that gives a strong hint for whatever is coming next.”
