We speak once again with the brilliant creator of We Are Lady Parts, Nida Manzoor!

Nida Manzoor is the creator of the hit Peacock/Channel 4 series We Are Lady Parts, which has returned for its brilliant sophomore outing. There’s absolutely no slump, only breaching into new levels of storytelling skill that Manzoor masterfully wields. Having found their mainline success, the band must contend with the challenges of fame and maintaining their unique space as artists. How does a Black or brown Muslim artist living in a western country maintain their integrity in spaces that often seek to diminish said integrity?

To explore that question and discuss where she wanted to take our beloved bandmates in season 2 (or series 2 if you’re in the UK) we spoke with Nida Manzoor once again. How could the series grow from where it was in Season 1? How has Nida herself grown as an artist since the release of her likewise groundbreaking film Polite Society from last year? How does Nida feel knowing that her uniquely personal work resonates with a variety of SWANASA, African, and Muslim peoples worldwide?

We discuss all that and more in our discussion, which you may watch below:
