The smart, hilarious, sci-fi satire Companion is officially hitting theaters this week! And this one is hands down one of the best surprises I’ve seen in theaters in recent years. To celebrate we were given the tremendous opportunity to discuss the film with its stars, Sophie Thatcher and Jack Quaid, as well as cast members Harvey Guillén, Lukas Gage, and Megan Suri. Now today, we’re pleased to bring you all our conversation with the writer and director of the film, himself, Drew Hancock!
Hancock may not necessarily be a household name just yet. However, considering his sharp, hilarious writing, and his smart approach to storytelling, he’s a breakout director that I think we need to keep our eye on as his filmography evolves. As a first feature, Companion is clever, smart, and brave. And we were lucky enough to speak to Hancock about the courage it took to put a scathing takedown of toxic masculinity and abusive relationships on the big screen as his first ever feature film.
Check out what he had to say right here:
Companion hits theaters this Friday, January 31.
