Kara Zor-El is finally flying into theaters! After over a year of anticipation, we’re going to see her story in all its glory in Supergirl, this Friday, June 26! Adapted from the Woman of Tomorrow run by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the story follows Kara on her interstellar travels with a young woman named Ruthye Marye Knoll, who is hunting down a vicious killer who murdered her parents. Recently, to celebrate the release of the upcoming movie, we were lucky enough to speak with Kara and Ruthye themselves, the amazing Milly Alcock and Eve Ridley! And we couldn’t be prouder to bring that interview to you all today!

For those who haven’t had a chance to read the graphic novel, the story is heavily inspired by classics like True Grit. That means the unconventional pairing between Kara and Ruthye needed to be perfectly portrayed on screen. To do this, DC Studios needed two actors who could play off each other very well. And whoever was hired to play Ruthye needed to be young, naive, and vulnerable without being annoying, but also tough and tenacious. For Kara, they needed an actor who could be wise and strong, but tormented; especially given Kara is a very different character from Clark. And with both characters, they absolutely hit the jackpot. Alcock and Filipino-British newcomer, Ridley are the perfect embodiments of these characters, with a magnificent sisterly chemistry both on and off screen. This was something that was incredibly obvious from the very second we sat with both of them to discuss their big blockbuster debuts.

It was truly an honor to discuss Supergirl with them. Take a look at what they had to say right here:
