Netflix’s Always Be My Maybe, starring comedians Ali Wong and Randall Park, started filming this week in Vancouver, Canada.

Written by Wong, Park, and Michael Golamco, the romantic comedy is about childhood sweethearts, Sasha (Wong) and Marcus (Park), who have a falling out and don’t speak for 15 years. They reconnect as adults when Sasha, now a celebrity chef opening a restaurant in San Francisco, runs into Marcus, a happily struggling musician still living at home working for his dad. There are still sparks between them, but can they adapt to each other’s world? 

The film is being directed by Fresh Off the Boat showrunner Nahnatchka Khan and has a wonderful lineup in the cast, including Keanu Reeves (John Wick), Michelle Buteau (Late Night Whenever podcast for WNYC, Broad City), Vivian Bang (Sullivan & Son), Karan Soni (Deadpool 2, Miracle Workers), Charlyne Yi (Paper Heart, Second Act), Daniel Dae Kim (Hellboy, The Good Doctor Executive Producer, Hawaii Five-0, Lost), James Saito (Big Eyes), rapper Lyrics Born, Susan Park (Vice Principals, Fargo, Snowpiercer), Ashley Liao, Miya Cech, Jackson Geach, Emerson Yin, Anaiyah Juliette Bernier, and Sasha Zoey Rojen.  

The film is being produced by Wong, Park, Nathan Kahane (Good Universe), Erin Westerman (Good Universe), Golamco, and Brady Fujikawa (Good Universe). Brendan Ferguson serves as executive producer. 

Always Be My Maybe is set to release in 2019.
