‘The Gorge’ Stars Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy Discuss the Importance of Human Connection

Miles Teller, who also serves as an executive producer, and Anya Taylor-Joy star as Levi and Drasa in The Gorge. The new thriller is now streaming on Apple TV+.

Two highly-trained operatives (Miles Teller and Anya Taylor-Joy) are appointed to posts in guard towers on opposite sides of a vast and highly classified gorge, protecting the world from an undisclosed, mysterious evil that lurks within. They bond from a distance while trying to stay vigilant in defending against an unseen enemy. When the cataclysmic threat to humanity is revealed to them, they must work together in a test of both their physical and mental strength to keep the secret in the gorge before it’s too late.

“We’re social creatures. We’re supposed to have somebody to love and to hold,” Taylor-Joy expressed. “I think it’s really nice because, obviously, there’s a literal gorge but the metaphor of the gorge also, of the vulnerability that is required in order to be able to fall in love with somebody. I love that they both cross that bridge, so to speak.”

Teller added, “Yeah, I think everybody needs some form of a support system and whether that comes through religion, with a higher power, or if you have these people in your life — you’re not looking for complete servitude and agreeance all the time, a dictatorship I don’t think is interesting. But absolutely, just feeling like you do have a place and that you matter, I think is very powerful.”
