Apple TV has sent The Nerds of Color an exclusive sneak peek clip from tomorrow’s fifth episode of Drops of God, the multilingual French-Japanese wine mystery drama.
Starring Fleur Geffrier and Tomohisa Yamashita, Drops of Wine’s second season has Camille (Geffrier) and Issei (Yamashita) working together to solve the mystery of the bottle their deceased father, Alexandre, left behind. Tensions rise between the two, as Issei has a bit of resentment towards his sister, who won the competition last year, and is dealing with an internal existential crisis. Believing this will bring them together and satisfy her need to be accepted by her dead father, Camille joins Issei on the journey, traveling to different parts of the world and ending up in Georgia, where they meet the winemaker, who is dealing with her own sibling conflict.
In the fifth episode, titled “Trust Me,” Issei spends the night in the cellar and deals with the dark memories and experiences that are driving him to be competitive and resentful towards his sister, Camille. Tamar, the Georgian wine maker, agrees to meet with her estranged brother, Davit, who wants to take over her wine business.
In the exclusive clip, Tamar offers Issei the bottles of wine that the siblings have been looking for. She tells him the wine is from 2021, the last vintage, and that “there would never be another.”
“You can open one if you’re ever afraid of the dark again,” she says, motherly.
Camille watches from her room the entire time, taking the bottles and leaving in the early morning. Issei wakes up to find the box empty and a note on the box that says, “Trust Me.”
Issei, looking mad, seems to curse under his breath.
Their relationship is already strained, so Camille taking the bottles when tensions are this high feels wrong. Yet, she has always been supportive of her brother, wanting to connect with him as he constantly pushes her away.
Could Tamar and Davit’s potential family relationship repair help Camille and Issei fix theirs? What is Camille doing with this wine? Why did she take all of it? It may be answered tomorrow.
Drops of God’s fifth episode airs tomorrow, Wednesday, February 18. Weekly episodes are released every Wednesday on Apple TV.
