A Los Angeles Theatre Review: ‘Antigone’

Kenneth Cavander‘s translation & adaptation of the ancient Greek tragedy Antigone by Sophokles, now playing at the Antaeus Theatre Company, is a confused but well-acted production with clunky sound design that unfortunately uses West Asian architecture, set, and music for its aesthetics without hiring any West Asian creatives or actors to tell the story.

A Los Angeles Theatre Review: ‘SHE’

What a gorgeous show. What a gorgeous cast. What a time to be witnessing such a play.

These are the first words that must be uttered after watching the world premiere of SHE at the Antaeus Theatre Company, written by Marlow Wyatt and directed by Andi Chapman (who knocks it out once more after watching her The Bluest Eye only just last month).

A Los Angeles Theatre Review: ‘Hamlet’

You would be hard pressed to find me wanting to watch a Shakespeare production willingly. While I am painfully aware his works are considered the echelon of fine performance arts training, my distaste for it only grew as a vast majority of Shakespeare productions only utilize white actors for the meaningful parts.
