The Season of the Force has arrived for guests adventuring into Disneyland Resort. The new limited-time enhancements are expected to make the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge experience even more exciting for the next few weeks.
Fans arriving at Batuu are likely to run into Sabine Wren, a Mandalorian warrior training in the ways of the Jedi under Ahsoka Tano. Her visit emphasizes the importance of inclusivity in a galaxy, far, far awar, while also spotlighting the importance of Asian representation. And if guests are looking for droids, the Black Spire Outpost welcomes the brand-new BDX models. Whatever you do, don’t challenge them to a dance off.

Sabine Wren is the second Asian female Star Wars character to pay a visit to Batuu following Fennec Shand. Our very own Laura Sirikul was curious about the decision-making process behind selecting these characters. Michael Sarna, who is an Executive Creative Director at Disney Live Entertainment, discussed who guests could meet when visiting Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. “We want to continue to evolve the land and continue to find new ways and new characters to meet and how do we look at the characters if we think people really want to engage with,” he said. as a fan myself, I think of the characters I want to see first, and then I’ll talk to Matt [Martin] and we’ll both agree like yeah, we want to see that character.
Sarna believes that having diversity and bringing different characters like Sabine Wren is important as they represent the entire audience. As such, they look into what characters guests would like to meet. “The galaxy is huge and it embraces a lot of different people from green – so bringing care to like Hera, Fennec, and Sabine; you will see more,” he said. “We will continue to bring new characters and exciting characters that our guests want to meet.”

As for the BDX droids, they are the newest additions that guests can encounter while on Batuu. These bipedal droids are described as playful, curious, and cute. They will be making daily appearances here in Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge. But don’t let their box-shaped body and flat head fool you, these guys have personality. They use their camera to scan you to make sure you’re not a bounty hunter. And if they can determine if you’re not one, they’ll show off their dance moves. Whether its spinning or twerking, these droids are in training and are likely to pick up on some new tricks from you or their trainer.
