Who needs coffee when you have a nice cup of “WTF” horror to wake you up (at 2:17 am)! Weapons is the latest from Barbarian director and Companion producer, Zach Cregger. And after weeks of teases, we finally got a trailer. Good luck sleeping ever again!
Cregger is producing alongside Roy Lee, who is an Asian American man who has brought us some of the best horror films of the past several years: the aforementioned Companion, last year’s brilliant and under seen Strange Darling, and this year’s Minecraft (which is really only terrifying if you need to clean up a movie theater). Still, that’s a hell of a track record and that doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of what else he’s accomplished.
In any case, his and Cregger’s latest collaboration looks utterly terrifying. I encourage you to watch it asap… if you dare:
Recently, we also received a seriously creepy package from Warner Bros. promoting the movie, and while this is one of the coolest and creepiest campaigns we’ve had the pleasure of being part of, I can honestly say, I was so freaking terrified about what was going to happen with this clock!
The movie also features Benedict Wong, as well as stars Julia Garner and Josh Brolin.
For me, I love being able to support movies for production companies led by POC founders and studio heads. In the case of Vertigo Entertainment, you have Lee as one of the founders, and president of production, Miri Yoon, also producing this incredibly scary-looking film. Considering how many awesome movies Vertigo has been behind over the past several years, that really won’t be difficult to continue our support for them!
Weapons hits theaters August 8!
