The Bad Guys 2 is bigger, funnier, and has totally unhinged heists and action sequences. We got to talk to the cast and crew of the DreamWorks sequel: Mr. Wolf (Sam Rockwell), Kitty Kat (Danielle Brooks), Mr. Shark (Craig Robinson), Mr. Piranha (Anthony Ramos), Pigtail Petrova (Maria Bakalova), Ms. Tarantula (Awkwafina) and the director, Pierre Perifel. Our interviews below:

When the Bad Guys are framed for a crime they didn’t commit, the team finds itself on the run. They’re pulled out of retirement for one last job with The Bad Girls. This elite, all-female criminal trio led by Kitty Kat (Danielle Brooks), a cool and calculated snow leopard; the cunning Doom (Natasha Lyonne), a razor-sharp raven; and Pigtail Petrova (Maria Bakalova), an enthusiastic, muscle-bound crime nerd. Brooks, Lyonne and Bakalova brought big energy as they reflected on joining the franchise, building chemistry as a trio, and tapping into their inner animals.

In our interview with director Pierre Perifel, we talked about how the sequel builds on the original’s graphic-novel-inspired style while raising the stakes both visually and emotionally. Perifel teased new character designs, dynamic action sequences, and bold stylistic swings, all of which are grounded in the core theme of redemption.

Anthony Ramos and Awkwafina talked about infusing rhythm and personality into their performances, and how their New York roots sneak into the characters. Sam Rockwell and Craig Robinson discussed the art of translating physical comedy into voice work and shared their favorite recording booth moments. Our chats were pretty much as chaotic and fun as the film itself.
