Pokémon fans in Los Angeles, rejoice!

The Pokémon Company International is celebrating the release of its Mega Evolution Pokémon expansion pack with a three-day interactive experience in Los Angeles.

The event, Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution Discovery, offers Trainers/fans/collectors a chance to check out some of the cards being offered. 

Taking place this weekend — Friday, September 26 through Sunday, September 28 at Magic Box LA, in the heart of downtown Los Angeles, Pokémon TCG Mega Evolution Discovery is perfect for fans to see the cards, take photos with oversized Pokémon cards from the set, and even meet Pikachu. Fans can also catch a glimpse of the artwork behind the anticipated expansion: Mega Evolution—Phantasmal Flames.

“From collecting to competitive play, passion for the Pokémon TCG has never been stronger, and the highly anticipated launch of the Mega Evolution Series marks a thrilling new chapter for the Pokémon TCG which continues to capture fans’ imaginations around the world,” said Barry Sams, vice president of game development and community engagement at The Pokémon Company International, in a press statement. “It’s a true delight to provide fans with a special interactive experience that brings the Pokémon TCG to life in engaging new ways with this unique exhibit as we celebrate the next exciting chapter in the Pokémon TCG’s legacy. There won’t be anything available for purchase at the event. The event is designed to get fans excited about the new cards and to immerse them in the world, especially for kids. There is a fun scavenger hunt at each Pokémon station, where fans can collect stamps with the opportunity to receive a prize on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last. Tickets are available here. 

We got to check out the space, which featured beautiful artwork of the Pokémon in the packs. The exhibition is a photo-op heaven, offering cute scenes to engage in, posing with statues of Lucario and Gardevoir or giant Pokémon cards. Even if you do not collect Pokémon trading cards, the event space is perfect for any fan. It would take less than 30 minutes to go through everything, including taking photos and getting stamps at each station.

What is this event celebrating? 

The event celebrates the highly anticipated return of Mega Evolution Pokémon to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. First appearing in the XY series and last seen in the Sun & Moon series, the expansion features powerful Mega Evolution Pokémon, including Mega Lucario ex and Mega Gardevoir — the two main characters for this pack.

When and where is this event?

This weekend: September 26 – 28, between 9 am and 8 pm PST each day.

The event will take place at Magic Box LA, located at 1933 South Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90007.

How can I get tickets?

Trainers can register for timed-entry tickets now at MegaEvolutionDiscovery.eventbrite.com. Registration will be required to access the experience. There will be a STANDBY line for those without tickets.

Tickets are available at no cost, on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last, with a limit of six tickets per order.

Where can I park?

The venue has paid parking available. 

Can I purchase Pokémon Trading Cards here?

No. There will be nothing available to purchase. 

How many giant Pokémon photo ops are there?

There are 10 oversized Mega Evolution Pokémon cards, two statues, and several paintings available for photo opportunities. 

Is there space to play a Pokémon Trading Card Game there?

No. There is no space available for playing Pokémon TCG.
