The ‘School Spirits’ Cast Teases “Apocalyptic” Season 3

It’s always spooky season in Split River.

School Spirits is back and scarier than ever. The third season of the teen drama-horror, which premieres January 28 on Paramount+, follows Maddie (Peyton List) as she deals with terrifying visions and struggles to adjust back to the living world. Meanwhile, Simon (Kristian Ventura), now trapped in the afterlife, is determined to unearth the buried secrets of Split River High once and for all.

In addition to List and Ventura, the series stars Milo Manheim as Wally, Spencer MacPherson as Xavier, Kiara Pichardo as Nicole, Sarah Yarkin as Rhonda, Nick Pugliese as Charley, Rainbow Wedell as Claire, Josh Zuckerman as Mr. Martin, Ci Hang Ma as Quinn, and Miles Elliot as Yuri. New additions this season include Ari Dalbert as Kyle, Erika Swayze as Livia, and legendary scream queen Jennifer Tilly (Bride of Chucky) as Dr. Hunter-Price.

While School Spirits initially started out as more of a murder mystery with a supernatural twist, it’s now graduated to full-on horror. “This season is so epic,” Zuckerman tells The Nerds of Color. “It’s so phantasmagorical and apocalyptic. It doesn’t adhere to the basic tropes of horror television. It really goes above and beyond and outside the lines.”

Ahead of the Season 3 premiere, The Nerds of Color chatted with cast members Spencer MacPherson, Kiara Pichardo, Rainbow Wedell, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, Miles Elliot, Ci Hang Ma, Josh Zuckerman, and Jennifer Tilly. We discussed the show’s LGBTQ representation, Maddie and Wally’s star-crossed love story, why Dr. Hunter-Price might actually be “worse” than Tiffany Valentine, and much more.
