NOC Review: ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ is Burton Back at His Best

Passion. When you think about the Tim Burton who did Beetlejuice in 1988 and the Burton who did Dumbo in 2019, that’s what separates the two. For a few decades, it looked like the former was lost for good. But after seeing Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, I’m pleased to say, thanks to the help of a delightfully devilish demon, the spark that once defined the director has been found once more!

Big Screen Batmans’ Best Movies Not Named Batman

When Warner Brothers announced that Ben Affleck was going to be the new Batman in the Man of Steel sequel, I had mixed feelings. Like Jenn said, I thought it was a very questionable casting choice considering his horrid display of acting chops in Pearl Harbor and Daredevil. Then again, I agreed with Keith that Affleck was the bomb in Phantoms, and I think that he has been slowly gaining street cred since he won the Oscar for Argo.

Then I immediately became nostalgic and pictured every single actor who has ever played Batman on the big screen. While their memorable Batman roles came to mind, I also thought of other films they have done that I really liked. As a nostalgic nerd of the ‘80s and ‘90s, of course those roles popped into my head first. A prime example is Michael Keaton, the first actor to grace the big screen as Batman in Tim Burton’s films from 1989 and 1992, respectively.

I Hate These “Blurred Lines” Too

Adam WarRock‘s latest free tune is a collabo with artist Chris Haley called “Nerrd Lines,” their ode to cosplay and cons. Set to Pharrell’s earwormy beat for “Blurred Lines,” the controversial summertime smash by Robin Thicke, WarRock and Haley’s version spawned from a summer spent at cons where hundreds of folks could be found waiting in lines circling convention centers from Connecticut to Baltimore.  All while wearing layers of spandex and plastic in 90 degree weather. Here are some sample lyrics from “Nerrd Lines”:
