Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke star as Agatha and Teen in Marvel Television’s Agatha All Along. The first two episodes are officially streaming, exclusively on Disney+ and this interview will contain spoilers.
In Agatha All Along, the infamous Agatha Harkness finds herself down and out of power after a suspicious goth Teen helps break her free from a distorted spell. Her interest is piqued when he begs her to take him on the legendary Witches’ Road, a magical gauntlet of trials that, if survived, rewards a witch with what they’re missing. Together, Agatha and this mysterious Teen pull together a desperate coven, and set off down, down, down The Road…
“I feel like it mirrored our bond as people. We didn’t shoot completely chronologically, but it was quite chronological, which was great because as Agatha and Teen’s bond is deepening, so was ours. But also, we had an instant chemistry, which just makes [it] so much easier when you trust the person you’re acting with that you can just go for it and you know they’ll just go with you,” Locke shared, reflecting on the bond they formed both on and off-screen.
“I felt instantly safe, and that I’ve known him forever, and that I just felt like I was in really solid hands, like our scenes would just be held together,” Hahn added. “But we never really talked about our stuff, it just kind of appeared.”
I spoke with the duo about filming Agatha’s transformation scene, introducing Teen with a mystery, the fun of fan theories, and creating the relationship between their characters.
